Hirsutism, PCOS & menopause
UNWANTED HAIR
-
Hirsutism
Hirsutism is excess hair most often noticeable around the mouth and chin.
Heredity and hormones are typically the cause of hirsutism.
-
PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens, male sex hormones that are usually present in women in small amounts.
One of the most common symptoms of PCOS is facial hair and thick body hair, caused by excess male hormones in the body.

MENOPAUSE
During menopause, a woman's body stops circulating estrogen but continues to circulate the same amounts of testosterone. The imbalance of hormones causes the appearance of some male secondary sex characteristics, like coarse facial hair.
